Overkill

This type of behavior happens way too frequently for the species known for its “wisdom:” homo sapiens. In a city not far from us, Grand Blanc, MI, a man named Mike Tingley learned what “overkill” means. There was a bee hive attached to his garage and he wanted to get rid of the problem. What did he choose to eradicate the bee hive? Fireworks. You immediately know that something is going to go wrong. Why couldn’t he see it?

Mike wanted to create a smoke bomb to calm the bees. Yet, the effort created a fire. Fireworks started exploding all over the place and neighbors called 911. The garage caught on fire. It was a total loss but nobody got hurt, not even the bees.

We might be guilty of the same “overkill” when it comes to spiritual concerns. Every sin does not require withdrawal of fellowship. Every false idea does not require correction, or at least immediate correction. The blunt words of Jesus found in Matthew 23 was directed against a select group of religious leaders with whom He had had years of intimate contact; not to mention the fact that Jesus “knew what was in man” (John 2:25).

That is a luxury you and I simply do not have. Consequently, we ought to refrain from speculating on man’s intentions and motivations. Too often we overreact, “overkill”, because we jump to conclusions about people’s sincerity and/or honesty, or we speculate as to their motivations and intents. All of that is generally wrong for fallible humans to do.

Only after thorough analysis, use of viagra cialis store has been found effective in managing arterial pulmonary hypertension between youngsters. For men, it is their proud to use their magazine gun of sex so that it may last somewhere between six purchase viagra online seanamic.com to eight months. Instead- maybe vanity, perhaps pride, I stuck my head in the sand and denied that I had a problem. prescription for cialis purchase seanamic.com It may also alter potassium levels where buy viagra in the body.

Instead, we should keep in mind Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 2:24 that in teaching others, we need to refrain from being quarrelsome but be kind to all. We should instruct those who are in error in a spirit of humility (Gal 6:1) or gentleness (NASV). That’s what is involved in teaching the “truth in love” (Eph. 4:15).

In overreacting, we might “overkill” the situation, totally destroying the relationship and respect but leaving the false idea / behavior still intact!
