Who is Satan?

He was an exalted angel. Three times Jesus referred to him as the “prince of this world.”  He is intelligent; scheming, cunning, inventive and forceful. He is Satan, the Devil.

In spite of the fact that the Bible clearly affirms the reality of Satan, our society is denying his actual existence in ever increasing numbers, even in religious circles. (Ask your preacher if he believes Satan is an actual being).

Isn’t it amazing that in a series of 56 words, (John 8:44), Jesus refers to Satan by using masculine personal pronouns five times! Yet, the claim is made that Satan is not real, but just a “personification” of evil.

Here we have a being who has a name (Revelation 12:9); who has children (Matthew 13:38c); who has desires (Luke 22:31); a being who can trap you (2Timothy 2:26); who can deceive you (Ephesians 6:11); who can hinder you (1Thessalonians 2:18); a being who can lie, contend, and dispute (Acts 5:3 & Jude 9), and a being who even has an eternal destiny (Matthew 25:41), and yet it is claimed that this “one” is only a personification of evil.

(Hebrews 2:14).   How real is Satan? Well, how real is death!?

Don’t tolerate anyone who tells you that Satan is unreal. Satan is our enemy. He is persistent, tenacious, and our unrelenting adversary.  He has only one goal and that is to inflict “hurt” on God.  Since God is God and cannot be personally attacked by Satan, the only way Satan can inflict “hurt” upon God is to attack the object of God’s love. The object of God’s love is this world (John 3:16).

How successful has Satan been with you? Has he deceived you into taking your focus off the Body of Christ? Has he convinced you that you are saved even if you are not doing what the Bible says to do to be saved?  Don’t let Satan use YOU as a tool against God. Submit to God’s Word.
