Why believe in Jesus as our savior?

Jesus claimed to be the Son of God and that He would fulfill all things written about the Messiah by the prophets (Luke 18:31).

Consider how “daring” this claim was. The Jews knew the Scriptures, they copied them, they quoted them from memory, and they were ready to examine and challenge the claims of anyone who claimed to be the Messiah. Jesus boldly claimed to fulfill all the requirements of all these Scriptures that they knew so well, but they were unable to refute His claim! Had they been able to find a single Scripture that did not apply to Jesus as the Messiah, they would have zealously exposed Him as an imposter.

Now, I’m wondering why they didn’t do this! When they hated Him so, when they plotted His death for years, why didn’t they just take the Scriptures and prove He was not the Christ? They did not do it because they could not do it.

The Jews could have taken the Scriptures and easily proved that Buddha is not the Messiah. They could have easily proved from the Scriptures that Mohammed is not the Messiah, as well as all others who claimed to be the Son of God. But they could not take the Scriptures and prove that Jesus was not the Messiah. They could not do it then, and they cannot do it now!

Why don’t the atheists, the infidels, and the skeptics of our own day point to some prediction or prophecy about the Christ that was not fulfilled by Jesus? Why don’t those who imagine themselves to be superior intellects, and who boast of their powers of reasoning — why don’t they just point to a single prophecy about the Messiah, (there are over 300 of them), that was not filled by Jesus? Because they can’t! That forces the conclusion that Jesus is who He says He is — the Son of God. That being the case, everything He said is Truth, and every accountable soul will be judged by His Word (John 12:48). It’s time to pay attention to your Bible. Your eternal life depends on it.
