He was worried that it was just about to go from bad to worse. “How long, O Lord, will I call for help, and you will not hear?” The day following the election – November 7th – will we feel like God has not heard our prayers?
In December, will we look around and see “iniquity, wickedness, strife, destruction, violence, and contention”? Where is respect for the Constitution? What is really fair and just? Habakkuk was overwhelmed with fear toward the future of his own nation.
Then God says, “I am raising up the Chaldeans, that fierce and impetuous people… they are dreaded and feared; their justice and authority originate with themselves.” Will we continue, after November, selling our children’s future to the Chinese?
Is the Chinese economic system (Communism) more virtuous than capitalism? Is the Chinese religion (atheism) more virtuous than Christianity? Will God allow America to fall – to cease, at least, being the America we have always known? “Why are you silent when the wicked swallow up those more righteous than they?” Habakkuk asked Jehovah God.
Habakkuk stands firm: “I will stand on my guard post and station myself on the rampart; and I will keep watch to see what He will speak to me, and how I may reply when I am reproved.”
