How to receive eternal life

1. Mt. 19:16-20 – READ

SEVERAL POINTS EMERGE FROM THIS EVENT IN JESUS LIFE, BUT WE WANT TO LIMIT OUR ATTENTION TO THREE THINGS.

a) The first point is going to be based on the word “lack.”
b) Then some attention will be directed to the word “I.”
c) We will conclude our material with the choices people make when they “lack” something.
2) The word translated “lack” is also found in Mk. 10:21 and this reference is somewhat unusual.

c) 1 Thess. 1:9 says the Christians from Thessalonica had turned from idols.
6) Some know about God but they lack faith in Him.
7) Another group of people has faith, but they lack a willingness to repent.
8) Acts 17:30 says “all people everywhere are to repent” (turn from sin).
9) Some refuse to repent. They will believe, confess, and would even be baptized.
10) Others believe and have committed themselves to living in the right way, but they have not confessed.
11) If people do all that has been mentioned thus far, they may lack the final step God requires: baptism.
