C. THERE ARE ONLY A FEW THINGS THAT ARE NECESSARY TO BE KNOWN

BEFORE A PERSON IS READY FOR BAPTISM.

I. YOU NEED TO BELIEVE IN GOD, JESUS AND THE BIBLE AS GOD’S WORD.
A.   Romans 1:16   For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

III.  THIS KNOWLEDGE SHOULD PRODUCE A FEELING OF GUILT WHICH LEADS

A.   2 Corinthians 7:9-10 Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in noth­ing. {10} For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

B.   Acts 2:38    Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

C.  Acts 3:19 “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

IV.  YOU SHOULD CONFESS AND ACCEPT JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND MASTER

VI.  YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO LIVE FOR JESUS

B.   Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

C.  2 Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.

VII. YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT BAPTISM PUTS YOU INTO CHRIST, HIS BODY,  THE CHURCH.

A.   Galatians 3:26-27 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (27) For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

B.   1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body; whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free; and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

C.  Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.

VIII. YOU SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT AS A NEWBORN BABE IN CHRIST THE CHURCH IS YOUR FAMILY GIVING YOU AN ATMOSPHERE WHERE YOU CAN GROW AND DEVELOP IN HIM.

D.     Are you willing to confess Jesus as your Lord and Master?

E.      Are you willing to be baptized into Christ, His body, the church, being united with Him in His death, burial & resurrection?

F.      Are you willing to live for Jesus since he died for you?
